Detroit News – A family who died in a house fire a year ago in southwest Detroit was remembered this week with a fire awareness assembly at the Cesar Chavez Academy.

The American Red Cross and the Detroit Fire Department participated in the assembly, teaching the students fire safety tips and the need for smoke detectors. Students who did not have the devices could take home three of them for free.

Come and visit Logan Elementary School. Mr. Mauro Cruz is the best principal in Southwest Detroit. He’s very kind and deserves recognition and a biography on his many talents.
